| | PLAYGROUND REDEVELOPMENT
We're redeveloping and re-building a playground for the children of our community and church. This will be the only playground on the east side of Jacksboro; it will be well-lit, shaded, and built from the best and safest materials being used today in the construction of playgrounds. Consisting of two areas, one for 2-5 year olds, and one for 5-12 year olds, this new facility will be built in the name of Keri, a young mother of two pre-school boys who died in an auto accident in 2005. We invite you to be a part of this project. The total cost is $18,000, and we have a benefactor who will match any amount, up to $9,000!
| | KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY
The Kairos Prison Ministry is actively supported by FUMC, financially and with volunteers. Kairos is an intensive, 4-day Christian encounter designed for inmates of prisons, with the goal of creating a Christian community inside the walls of a prison. Our church works specifically with volunteers in the Allred Unit of the Texas Department of Corrections, in Wichita Falls. Two major events at the prison are held each year, with monthly and weekly follow-up gatherings of inmates and volunteers. Money raised by us is used to buy special food for the major events, at which time the inmate-participants are served food like cheeseburgers, ice cream, and green beans. This kind of food, served in a prison, is evidence of God?s grace. $5 buys a meal, $45 serves a whole table!
